Cassandra Cain's Batgirl Stars In First Solo Series in Nearly 20 Years!

One of DC's most underrated Bat-Family members gets their first solo series in nearly 20 years, as Cassandra Cain's Batgirl stars in an all-new ongoing comic that puts the quiet but deadly hero back at the forefront of the publisher's storytelling initiative.

First appearing in Batman #567, Cassandra Cain immediately captured readers' attention due to her heartbreaking backstory as a born-and-raised assassin and daughter of Lady Shiva. Cain eventually broke free from her restrictive upbringing and became Batgirl in the DC Universe, joining several other heroes as critical members of Batman's family. Now, Batgirl #1 will see the hero star in her own solo adventures, with writer Tate Bombral and artist Takeshi Miyazawa tackling the story for DC Comics.

Batgirl #1 features main cover art from David Talaski, showing the hero striking an acrobatic pose. Jeff Dekal's variant cover shows Cassandra Cain scaling across buildings, making a mighty leap. Stanley "Artgerm" Lau's variant brings the fan-favorite artist's style to Batgirl as she holds a Batarang before a cloudy night. Lau's cover is also available as a foil variant.
