Cruella de Vil, Cruella de Vil. If she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will...
In a brand new Disney Villains: Cruella De Vil comic from Dynamite, the titular character wants to reestablish her name in the fashion world. Fittingly, the Disney villain will commit evil deeds to ensure her reputation doesn’t continue to implode.
Cruella De Vil is Disney’s most infamous puppy thief, serving as the main antagonist in the beloved 1961 animated film One Hundred and One Dalmatians. The movie is based on Dodie Smith’s novel of the same name and has had several adaptations, including most recently, Cruella, a live-action film starring Emma Stone. With Dynamite Comics getting the rights to several Disney villains as part of a new imprint, Cruella’s story post-One Hundred and One Dalmatians will be told — and not everything is going well for the fur-loving baddy.
In Disney Villains: Cruella De Vil #1 by Sweeney Boo and Miriana Puglia, Cruella tries to lift her sullied name in the fashion world after the events of One Hundred and One Dalmatians. Desperate for fame and accolades and to lift her once-respected name, Cruella is about to go to great lengths to become relevant again. The tease for the upcoming series suggests Cruella will set her sights on the royal family’s priceless jewels, showcasing the lengths she’ll go to get her old life back.
Disney Villains: Cruella De Vil #1 features covers from some heavy hitters, including superstar cover artist Joshua Middleton, who draws the villain in her cartoon style. Boo draws the main cover featuring Curella surrounded by dogs. Gretel Lusky’s variant features a dog pulling on one of Cruella’s coats. Meanwhile, Miriana Puglia’s variant imagines Cruella as an action figure. All of the art will have incentive variants available with virgin covers. Check out Middleton’s cover below, followed by the text solicit for the issue.
The beloved Disney villain - in her own FABULOUS series, darling! Even though there's absolutely no hard evidence that noted couturière Cruella De Vil was ever involved in the theft of any Dalmatian puppies, her name has been ruined in all of the tabloids, and now her reputation in the fashion world is hanging by a thread. Which is why she's willing to do anything - ANYTHING! - to restore her good name - even stealing the royal family's priceless jewels! How will that restore her reputation, you ask? You'll just have to pick up this brand new entry in Dynamite's Disney Villains adventures to find out! With a story (and a cover) by the astonishingly talented SWEENEY BOO, and interior art by the continentally sophisticated MIRIANA PUGLIA, Disney Villains: Cruella De Vil #1 also features covers from the intensely fashionable JOSHUA MIDDLETON!
