Marvel's Secret Wars Reimagined: Battleworld Unleashed!

Marvel is revisiting one of its most iconic storylines in a new Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars: Battleworld. The new four-issue limited series will tell an untold story of Secret Wars starring Spider-Man, the Beyonder, and some of its most iconic heroes and expand the beloved 1984 series in surprising new ways.

Marvel’s original Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars by Jim Shooter, Mike Zeck, and Bob Layton is one of the publisher’s most memorable events ever, as it took the greatest heroes and villains on Earth and put them on Battleworld to fight against one another to win their greatest desires. The event saw the debut of new characters like the Beyonder, Titania, and Volcano, saw Spider-Man get his black symbiote suit, and had significant repercussions on the Marvel Universe, including the eventual introduction of Venom and Hulk returning to their most savage form. Secret Wars has had numerous spinoffs, sequels, and reimaginings while also leading to several popular action figure lines.

The new series will dive into the Beyonder’s true intentions of creating Battleworlds, showcase what happened to characters who weren’t seen in the original Secret Wars event and will answer longtime questions fans had about the original series. Tom DeFalco and Pat Olliffe will tackle the new storyline.

Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars: Battleworld #1 features a main cover from Giuseppe Camuncoli and Paul Mounts. Ryan Stegman and Frank D’Armata reimagine the classic first issue of the original series with a sweet homage variant (with a 1:100 virgin variant). Todd Nauck and Rachelle Rosenberg’s variant showcases heroes and villains on Battleworld in a connecting variant that will go with future covers. Ollife and Edgar Delgado’s variant features the Human Torch taking on the Absorbing Man. Sean Galloway’s connecting covers begin with a gorgeous Saturday Morning Cartoon variant. Francesco Mobili and Romulo Fajardo Jr.'s 1:25 variant sees Spider-Man and Human Torch take to the skies in an epic team-up. CaptCan Comics will have all Ratios available for purchase upon release!
