New 'Edge of Spider-Verse' Series: Debut of Weapon VIII & More

The Edge of Spider-Verse is known for introducing some of the most exciting new web-slingers to comics. From Spider-Gwen’s debut in Edge of Spider-Verse #2, Penni Parker and SP/dr first appearing in Edge of Spider-Verse #5, to several other fan-favorite heroes making their comic book debuts in different versions of the series, the comic is known for taking readers to different parts of the Spider-Verse — both new, old, and unusual.

In 2024, Marvel will release a new Edge of Spider-Verse series, which will feature the debut of Weapon VIII. In the storyline from Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, and Travel Foreman, the universe’s Wolverine will escape the Weapon X facility, leading those in charge to call on Weapon VIII to find and return him. Additionally, the new series will shine a new light on Spider-Byte, one of the main heroes from the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse film. The new story comes from Nilah Magruder and Eric Gapstur. Marvel also teases that the new Edge of Spider-Verse comic will set up the next evolution of “Spider-Versal” stories.

While variant covers haven’t been revealed yet, Derrick Chew will draw a Spider-Gwen cover also available as a 1:100 virgin variant. David Nakayama brings his signature style to a new variant. Skottie Young will do a yet-to-be-shared variant. Chris Allen will do a Stormbreakers variant. Amanda Conner will draw a 1:25 incentive variant. At the same time, a yet-to-be-announced artist will do a foil variant for the debut issue.
