WA fan-favorite Spider-Man story has been reprinted, as Amazing Spider-Man #259 by Tom DeFalco, Ron Frenz, Josef Rubinstein, Rob Sharen, and Joe Rosen officially gets a facsimile edition from Marvel Comics!
ASM #259 ended up being a major issue for Peter Parker and his adventures as a web-slinger. In the comic, Mary Jane Watson reveals she knows the truth about his secret identity, as the iconic couple agree to be friends once again. Meanwhile, as the Fantastic Four study the black symbiote that Spider-Man brought back to Earth following the events of Secret Wars, the titular hero dons his most iconic costume once again, returning to his blue, red, and black ensemble. If that wasn’t enough, the story also features the surprise return of the Hobgoblin, who Spider-Man is shocked is alive.
The reprint brings the original cover and trade dressing back to the comic newsstand, with Spider-Man’s return in his classic costume, the never-before-told origin of Mary Jane Watson, and the return of the Hobgoblin teased in the original cover. The Ron Frenz cover declares, “The Original is Back!” referring to the web-slinger’s most famous look coming back. Sam De La Rosa draws a new 1:25 incentive variant featuring Spider-Man in his classic ensemble as he ditches the black suit in the trash while striking a pose while swinging on his webs. Check out the 1:25 incentive cover, followed by the text solicits for the issue below!
"Continuing a Facsimile celebration of the early days of Spider-Man's black costume, which he has now discovered is really an alien symbiote intending to bond with him forever! With a little help from the Fantastic Four, Peter Parker has been separated from the suit and is now back in the ol' red-and-blues as he hunts for the Hobgoblin. But it's out of costume where the real revelations await: Mary Jane Watson has known Peter's dual identity for years, and now it's time for her to share her own secrets with him! Meanwhile, Reed Richards continues to study the symbiote - which may be more intelligent than even he realizes! It's one of the all-time great Marvel comic books, boldly re-presented in its original form, ads and all! Reprinting AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (1984) #259."
