Thanos Returns: Mad Titan's Earth-Shaking Quest

Thanos once again asserts his dominance in the Marvel Universe as the Mad Titan returns in a new “Thanos” limited series by Christopher Cantwell and Luca Pizzari.

Thanos has solidified himself as the big bad in the Marvel Universe following his gambits for power in The Infinity Gauntlet Saga, Infinity, and several other major comic book events and storylines. However, in recent years, Thanos only appeared in his quest to take down the Eternals, which failed. Now, the villain is back and is coming to Earth to find Death. But, his mission to win his long-rejected love’s hand will be met by the new Illuminati, who will do everything possible to ensure he doesn’t accomplish his dangerous task.

The new Illuminati features returning members Doctor Strange, Iron Man, and Mister Fantastic, who will be joined by the mighty hero, Blue Marvel, and Emma Frost of the X-Men. The secret superteam is keeping Death hidden from Thanos, leading the Mad Titan to touch down on Earth in a fury. Thanos will fight tooth and nail to get what he wants, regardless of who stands in his way.

Cantwell and Pizzari’s run features some incredible covers, including a main cover featuring Thanos’ rage unleashed by artist Leinil Francis Yu and colorist Sunny Gho. Dave Watcher’s Windowshades variant sees the Mad Titans staring across the cosmos. Kendrick Lim draws the supervillain striking a powerful pose (in a cover also available as a 1:100 virgin variant). Phil Noto honors George Perez with his own take on the classic The Infinity Gauntlet Saga homage featuring Thanos surrounded by the new Illuminati. Lastly, Thanos #1’s cover by InHyuk Lee shows the villain with an eerie smile.
